It was cold in San Antonio today, so I bundled up warmly for my afternoon walk. (I know: 36º is not too cold north of here, but it felt cold here!) About halfway through my two-mile walk I saw a few deer picking at the grass by the roadside. When I got closer, another dozen deer were partially hidden in the woods by the clearing. It’s not unusual to see deer in our community, but I haven’t seen this many together before. Maybe they were clustering together because of the cold!
When I got back from my walk, I picked some collard greens from our tiny backyard garden to have with blackeye peas for supper. I also picked baby lettuce greens for our salad. What a good start to a wonderful year!
