My undergrad students began giving their PowerPoint presentations in class yesterday. Their assignment was twofold: 1.) Show what life changes they are making to help prevent diseases like hypertension, stroke, heart attack, obesity, diabetes, cancer and other chronic diseases that are so damaging to Western societies and are now exploding all around the world. 2.) Show how, as future health service managers, they can promote healthy lifestyles in their communities. This is simple in concept, but tough to implement on a broad scale.
The first four students who gave their presentations yesterday did a good job. Professor Wembodinga and I were both well-impressed with the quality of their work. They have clearly absorbed what I’ve been teaching about the impact of lifestyle on overall health, and their ideas about making lifestyle change sustainable were creative. They will have a solid impact on their communities in the future!
