A Remarkable Week

This has been a remarkable week. Tuesday, a small group of us met Kennedy and Dorothy Mhondoro flying into San Antonio from Zimbabwe. They are old friends whom I have known from trips to Zimbabwe going back to 2004, and it was great to see them again. Kennedy spoke at University United Methodist Church (UUMC) Wednesday evening, and we were together again at the church last evening. They were at our house for lunch yesterday, and they will both be speaking at UUMC tomorrow. It’s been a wonderful reunion.

On Wednesday, I also met Rev. and Mrs. Lance Herrick who were here this week to attend another conference. I had never met them before, but Lance was my sister’s college classmate at Carleton College fifty-some years ago. It turns out that Mrs. Herrick was Abel Muzorewa’s classmate at Central Methodist College in Missouri. Abel later became Bishop Muzorewa in Zimbabwe. His oldest son lives here in San Antonio, something the Herricks had not known. We all met at UUMC Wednesday evening. Given the fact that none of this was preplanned, it was a serendipitous event indeed!
