I moved into my guest faculty apartment on campus last evening, and today I’ve been assigned a nice office in the Faculty of Health Sciences building at Africa University. This welcome is wonderful, and I’m already developing a sense of belonging here, though it will be another week before new students start arriving. I’m glad to have this week to get to meet other faculty and staff, and to get fully oriented.
Electric power is somewhat “iffy” here also, but the back-up generators keep us functioning well. I didn’t have power for about an hour at the apartment last evening, but managed a good salad kind of supper. My apartment is about half a mile from the academic center on campus, so walking back and forth gives me great walking opportunities. This is a wonderful time of year to do a lot of walking, with cool mornings and evenings, and gorgeous days. It’s great to be here!
