We had the joy of hearing the San Antonio Chamber Choir sing at the Alamo Heights United Methodist Church this afternoon. The 24-voice choir sang a capella, and they were great. The theme of the concert was Spanish & Mexican Cathedral Music, dating mostly from the 16th century. The Alamo Heights UMC is like a grand cathedral itself, and it was a beautiful setting for the concert. The final piece was the world premiere of Salmo de Alabanza by Andrew Rindfleisch, the only modern composer represented. To top it all, he was present in the audience. He and the choir received a standing ovation at the end. Altogether, it was a grand experience!
